Optics for your rifle is more important than the rifle itself in many cases, and if you hunt where you may get a shot at distance this scope is the one you want to have. Let’s face it, most of us can’t afford to put an elite $2,000+ optic on a hunting rifle and some would say it would to be stupid to do so if you hunt hard like us!
The Primary Arms Mil/Mil 4-14x44 Front Focal Plane HUD DMR features the patented ACSS HUD/DMR reticle. Let us tell you from experience, this scope is badass. This particular model is calibrated for .308/762.x51 loadings a perfect cartridge for mule deer and white tale hunting. The ACSS reticle has build in hold overs, wind holdover for 5 and 10 mph and target leads for around 3, 6 and 9 mph. It is also capable of range estimation.
The scope is crystal clear true through is entire magnification range of 4x through 14x, and since its first focal plane the hold over and range estimation features are dead on, no matter what magnification it’s dialed to. The reticle is etched in the glass so it works without the illumination on and with it powered on it is amazing in low light conditions. A side mounted parallax adjust knob keeps the reticle parallax free and the image sharp at extended ranges.
This scope is a beast and after carrying it on my Ruger American predator .308 beating it up and down the mountains it has held zero. The scope is shockproof, waterproof, and fog resistant, and comes with a lifetime warranty. Check out the reticle below.
Some old school hunters may think this reticle is a little to busy so Team Whiskey recommends that the good ol’ boys pick up the Orion reticle shown below.
